Presurgery with fingers crossed

I've never been the first to post to a forum, but I thought someone should start.

I'm 5' 4.5" and 314 pounds with diabetes and general discomfort. I've met with the doctor to get all my basics and also with the dietician, Kristine, who was very nice. I've done a controlled diet diary for over two weeks and was down to about 306 now, which I found amazing. I'm very dedicated to making this process work.

I'm meeting with Dr. Foote and Scott the behavourist in a couple of weeks, and I'm hoping I can get approved for surgery still this year. Excited and I know this is going to be a life ovehaul. Fingers are crossed for approval and continued employment and insurance in this economy.

I'd love to see some advice from post-surgery folks about some of the things you've gone through, both good and bad.

Best wishes to everyone who is choosing or has chosen this option. :P

I've been approved for surgery. Hooray for me! It's going to be life changing, with many sacrafices and rewards, and I'm ready for it. All those last minute questions are running through my head, and I'll have to write them down before my pre-op consult next week. Wondering if hunger with a tiny stomach will feel the same as hunger in a regular stomach...things like that.

Being on the calorie restricted diet over Christmas will be it's own kind of sacrafice, but I have a supportive family that will try not to torture me too much.

May everyone enjoy a blessed holiday season. Best wishes for all of us in the new year, whatever life has in store.

I see it's been several months since your surgery. Just wondering how the first 6 months have gone? :)
