What is the difference between surgical weight loss and non-surgical weight loss?
Surgical weight loss, known as bariatric surgery includes procedures like gastric sleeve or gastric bypass, that are often covered by insurance if you meet certain criteria. Our non-surgical weight loss program includes a diet program outlined to fit your needs, with nutritional guidance, and meal plans for purchase conveniently available in our office.
How do I know if surgical or non-surgical weight loss is right for me?
The first step in determining the best option for weight loss for your specific needs and goals is to schedule a consultation with our office. You will meet with our team of leading experts in Michigan, and together, we will determine the best path for you!
Does insurance cover bariatric surgery or non-surgical weight loss?
Each insurance plan is different and has different criteria to adhere to. In general, for insurance to cover bariatric surgery, your BMI must be 40 or higher, or 35 or higher with approved co-morbidities such as sleep apnea, hypertension, or diabetes. By submitting your insurance information with Grand Health Partners, once you have requested a consultation, we will be able review your specific plan and provide details of coverage during your consultation.

At Grand Health Partners, we are affiliated with multiple hospital in Michigan. The location of your surgery depends on a few factors, including surgeon schedule, insurance criteria, referring physicians’ location (if applicable), staffing, and more. The location of your surgery will be discussed with one of our Coordinators during the process leading up to surgery.
